The Deadly Syndrome set to open for Lykke Li; prepping “mysterious” new material

The Deadly Syndrome, who’ve kept a relatively low profile since the Christmas Sweaterfest at the Echoplex last December, are preparing their return–in more ways than one.  The band is returning to the stage on August 4th, opening for Swedish electro-rock/popper Lykke Li at the Wiltern (tickets are available here–go get ‘em), where they will be introducing some new tunes with their older The Ortolan material.

As for the recorded follow-up to The Ortolan, the best and only news the band can give about a new disc “is mysterious news” that was sent my way last night:  “It’s all happening, and we’re figuring out what to do with it, but it’s definitely almost done happening.”  Fingers crossed that “it” happens in 2009.
