Henry Clay People set to play Lollapalooza this August

The Henry Clay People, one of Los Angeles’ most raucous and vibrant live acts, are moving up in the world–it was announced today that the band would be bringing their Telecaster’d sprawl and blood-sugared rush of revivalist rock ‘n roll to the opening day of the 2009 Lollapalooza Festival, to be held August 7th through the 9th at Chicago’s Grant Park. The band will be sharing the stage with acts such as Lou Reed (!), Depeche Mode, Tool, The Killers, Jane’s Addition, Beastie Boys and Kings Of Leon.
More details as they emerge, but it looks like 2009 may be the year for HCP, who just wrapped up a USA tour with The Airborne Toxic Event (who are also on the Lollapalooza bill, along with other such notable locals as the Silversun Pickups and No Age) and, as reported here in January, are currently already writing the follow-up to last year’s fantastic LP, For Cheap or For Free. Make sure to catch the final night of their residency at Spaceland (the band’s residency diaries can be read here) next Monday–something tells me they may be awfully busy for the next year.
