Roadwork: The Pity Party, Part Six (THE LAST MISSIVE)
Roadwork is a recurring feature on Web in Front, one in which members of our favorite Los Angeles bands scribble, shoot photos and quietly fall asleep in the backseat of the van as they crisscross the roads of America and beyond while on tour. October/ November’s Roadwork entries are from Heisenflei of The Pity Party, written as the band journeys from CMJ in New York to a tour of the UK.

I’ve been putting off this entry, heartsick that it is to be my last one. The precious moments of our time here in London race exponentially towards the limit of their existence. When you’ve been hanging out and playing rock in London for two weeks, saying goodbye is the hardest part. Saying “so long” drives the fundamental rhythm of nomadic life. Pout pout pout—blah blah blah.
Our last two shows were booked at the last minute. The first, on Friday, was at a newly gussied up pub in Camden called the Monarch where Wino herself allegedly spins records. There was a lovely private hallway for us to congregate pre-show and stage some dressing-room-trashing scenes for our upcoming straight-to-internet featurette which may or may not ever actually exist. The promoter, Rockfeedback, provided a selection of crisps, biscuits, and beer. The Pity Party provided the Jack.
Our final show was the EP release party for Little Death at a warehouse in Clapton, E5. Julianna Little Death provided the Jack. (Thanks be to her!)
The party got broken up by coppers. It was that good.
