New Music Preview – Various Local Artists – Plastic Snow

Featuring local artists as disparate as Great Northern, the Sweet Hurt, Earlimart, the Monolators, the Hectors, I Make This Sound, Rilo Kiley’s Pierre de Reeder and many more, Plastic Snow is an L.A.-based compilation of winter/holiday songs performed by local bands, with 100% of the profits going to L.A.’s longest-running homeless shelter, Midnight Mission. Presented by Confessions of a Would Be Hipster, the LP looks as if it will actually rock—The Monolators or Fol Chen playing Christmas tunes? I’m in. Plus, it’s for an incredibly good cause. Go check it out. Full tracklist is after the jump.

So, does this mean it’s time we ditch our ironic Christmas kitsch-discs for something that actually sounds good? Maybe. But I’m still holding on to my Hung for the Holidays special edition.
